Introducing bees to our garden farm

Introducing bees to our garden farm

As far back as I can remember, I've been fascinated by bees and the incredible medicines that they offer. Honey, propolis, bee pollen, venom and royal jelly are some of the most potent natural medicines that nature provides. Its no wonder bee keepers are some of the longest living people on the planet.

One of the reasons I love living here in this dusty, beautiful, strangely dreamy oasis is the Amazigh (Berber) tribal people who call this place home. People here are generally pretty darn happy. The culture makes time for each other and prioritizes the important things in life like family and friends. To live here means one never truly feels alone or excluded from the community. The mentally ill, the old, the young, all are valued and accepted.

Life on the Garden Farm

Life on the Garden Farm

Our garden farm is watered by an ancient Pharonic spring and is abundant in herbs, fruits and happy animals.  We keep goats, chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits which are all pasture fed and organic, and spend their days foraging outside in the sunshine.  We grow herbs, including aloes, moringa, basil, eucalyptus, rosemary and thyme to name just a few.

Ecological Design and Build

Ecological Design and Build

Throughout our garden farm and home we have co-created with nature.  The buildings are hand made from local mud, salt and wood, assisted by the local Siwan people skilled in organic earth builds.  Our vision was to merge with the ancient landscape and our design inspired by the sacred geometry of a cactus.   Here you can see how our build evolved.
